Do you find yourself on information overload in today’s
world? Do you wonder what can possibly
trump the previous day’s bad news? With
the world on fire and multiple conflicts seemingly in every continent, how does
one cope with the anxiety it creates?
Here in the United States I have not seen our nation so vulnerable in my
lifetime. The economy continues to
struggle, our government continues to spiral out of control with Congress, the
Senate and the White House totally gridlocked and accomplishing very
little. Our national debt is
unsustainable and will probably blow up in our faces soon. If we manage to somehow escape a collapse,
the burden it puts on future generations is staggering.
Our immigration policy on our southern border is in total
disarray, thus creating a huge humanitarian crisis along with continued
exposure to terrorism, crime and disease.
With acts of nature such as hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, etc. and
an overabundance of other problems that are too numerous to list, it only seems
rational that we look for something, somewhere that will help to secure our
family’s future.
A recent article in Forbes Magazine stated that, “Amid the
housing and market bust and recession, the agriculture and land market has been
marching to a different drummer. With
food prices rising worldwide, in good part due to rising affluence and demand
in Asia, U.S. agricultural exports have been booming. Consequently, farms/ranches have seen
double-digit price appreciation nearly every year of the last decade, with
hedge funds and other financial speculators helping to fuel the rise.
We don’t think twice about buying insurance policies for our
cars, houses, health, life and any other thing we think we need, so why don’t
we think about securing that piece of Real Estate that will ensure the safety
and well-being of our family’s future in the event of a major catastrophe?
One needs to take a look at Northern California where numerous
celebrities, politicians and people of means are quietly buying up the
countryside. When the world’s wealthiest
buyers seek to plump up their property portfolios with a U.S.-based
acquisition, more and more are looking at the great American Wilderness.
Ranches are the, “next trophy property that will start
trending,” says Royce Pinkwater, former Senior Vice President of Sotheby’s
International Realty and founder of Pinkwater Select, who specializes in
portfolio building for whom she describes as the “Stratospherically rich.”
Ranches can give the affluent buyer just the sort of space
and seclusion they covet. Often set in
hundreds of private acres, they offer scope for every sporting activity
imaginable, a place to land a private plane or helicopter, and plenty of room
to accommodate family and friends.
I represent just that type of property. Bear Mountain Ranch is a totally
self-contained 1,050 acre property. It
has an abundance of water, solar energy, backup generators and existing farming
& ranching endeavors. It is on the
grid, yet able to totally function indefinitely if utilities go down.
